Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Kazepute's VPS, web hosting, and domain services.

General

VPS (Breezes) gives you a full virtual machine with root access. You install your own OS, software, and manage everything yourself. Best for developers, custom applications, game servers, or anything that needs full control.

Web Hosting is managed for you. We handle the server, PHP, Nginx, email, SSL, and backups. You just upload your site or install WordPress with one click. Best for websites, blogs, small businesses, and anyone who doesn't want to manage a server.

All infrastructure is hosted in the United States (New York). Both VPS and web hosting run on the same enterprise hardware with NVMe storage. We're open to expanding to additional locations as demand grows.

Kazepute is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama.

Yes — for both VPS and web hosting. Upgrades take effect immediately and you only pay the prorated difference. Downgrades apply on the next billing cycle. You can manage plan changes from your portal or contact support.

VPS Hosting (Breezes)

We offer Ubuntu (22.04, 24.04), Debian (12, 13), AlmaLinux (8, 9, 10), Rocky Linux (8, 9, 10), CentOS Stream (9, 10), and Fedora. You can also upload a custom ISO for any OS you need.

No. You have full control over your Breeze's firewall and services. That said, any activity that constitutes abuse — including spamming, DDoS attacks, or illegal activity — will result in immediate suspension.

We use both. Our hypervisors are equipped with a mix of SSD and NVMe storage to deliver fast, reliable disk I/O for all workloads.

Yes to both. IPv6 is available upon request. Additional IPv4 space is available subject to availability. Contact us with your requirements.

Web Hosting

All plans include NVMe storage, free SSL certificates, email hosting, MySQL databases, a file manager, FTP access, daily automated backups (stored off-site on Wasabi S3), one-click WordPress installation, and 24/7 support. Growth and Business plans also include our AI Site Builder. Business adds SSH access and staging sites.

We use Restic with Wasabi S3 for encrypted off-site backups. Your files and databases are automatically backed up daily at 3:00 AM UTC. We keep 7 daily, 4 weekly, and 3 monthly snapshots. Backups are deduplicated so only changed data is stored. You can also create manual snapshots anytime from your portal and restore any snapshot with one click.

We support PHP 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, and 8.4. You can choose which version to use per website. Each account gets its own PHP-FPM pool with configurable memory limits, so your sites don't interfere with each other.

Yes. The Starter plan includes 1 website. Growth supports up to 10 websites. Business is unlimited. Each website gets its own Nginx virtual host, so you can host different domains on the same account.

You can create email accounts on any domain hosted on your account (e.g., info@yourdomain.com). Email runs on Postfix (sending) and Dovecot (IMAP/POP3 receiving). Each mailbox has configurable storage quota. You can access email via any standard mail client or webmail.

Business plan users can enable SSH access from their portal. You get a chrooted shell restricted to your home directory — you can use git, composer, WP-CLI, and standard command-line tools, but you can't access other users' files or system configuration. This is not full root access (that's what VPS is for).

AI Site Builder

The AI Site Builder lets you describe the website you want in plain English and generates a complete, responsive HTML/CSS site for you. It's available on Growth and Business hosting plans. You can also use it to generate blog posts, about pages, and FAQ content.

The AI Site Builder supports Claude (Anthropic), Gemini (Google), and Grok (xAI). You can bring your own API key for any of these models, or use the included quota on your plan. The AI Console (for VPS) also supports ChatGPT (OpenAI) in addition to these three.

AI Console (VPS)

The AI Console lets you manage your VPS (Breeze) through natural language. Instead of SSHing in and running commands manually, you tell your AI what you want done — "install Nginx with SSL", "set up a firewall", "check disk usage" — and it executes the commands on your server for you.

You get a split-pane interface: chat on the left, live terminal output on the right. Every command is logged and replayable.

We support four providers: Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), and Grok (xAI). You bring your own API key — we never mark up the cost. Your keys are encrypted with sodium and stored securely.

No. The AI Console is included free with every Breeze. You only pay for the AI API usage directly to your chosen provider (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) through your own API key. We don't add any markup.

Each AI session has a safety mode:

  • Ask First (default) — The AI proposes commands with a "Run" button. You review and approve each one before it executes.
  • Auto-Execute — The AI runs commands automatically as it generates them. Best for experienced users who want speed.
  • Read-Only — Only allows diagnostic commands (ls, df, top, etc.). Nothing can be modified. Great for inspecting your server safely.

Regardless of mode, dangerous commands (rm -rf /, shutdown, etc.) are always blocked.

We block known dangerous commands automatically and recommend using "Ask First" mode so you can review every command before it runs. That said, the AI is executing real commands on your server with root access — just like SSH. We recommend creating a snapshot before making major changes so you can always roll back.

Domain Registration

Yes. We offer domain registration through Dynadot with support for .com, .net, .org, .io, .co, .dev and more. Pricing starts at $10.88/yr for .com domains. WHOIS privacy is included free on all registrations.

Yes. You can transfer domains from any registrar. You'll need the EPP/authorization code from your current registrar. Transfers typically complete within 5-7 days and include a one-year renewal.

No. When you sign up for hosting, you get a free subdomain (username.kazepute.com) automatically. You can add your own domain anytime by pointing its DNS to our hosting server. You're also free to register your domain through any registrar — it doesn't have to be through us.

App Platform

The App Platform lets you deploy containerized applications without managing a server. Pick an app from our marketplace (WordPress, Ghost, Gitea, n8n, and more), choose a plan, and we handle the rest — containers, SSL, DNS, and scaling. Each app gets a unique subdomain on apps.kazepute.com.

App Platform is fully managed — you pick an app, we run it in a container. No SSH, no OS updates, no maintenance. Great for single-purpose apps.

VPS (Breezes) gives you a full virtual machine with root access. You install whatever you want and manage it yourself. Better for custom setups, multi-service stacks, or anything that needs full control.

Each app gets a unique subdomain (e.g., myapp-abc123.apps.kazepute.com) with automatic SSL. Custom domain support is on our roadmap. In the meantime, you can use a CNAME record to point your domain to your app's subdomain.

We offer 12+ pre-configured apps including WordPress, Ghost, Gitea, n8n, Uptime Kuma, Plausible Analytics, and more. New apps are added regularly. Each app is pre-configured and ready to use — no Docker knowledge required.

OpenClaw (AI Gateway)

OpenClaw is a managed AI messaging gateway. It connects platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, and 20+ others to any AI model. You can build AI-powered chatbots, customer support agents, or automated messaging workflows without writing code.

Depends on the plan. The Starter plan is BYOK (Bring Your Own Keys) — you provide your own API keys for Claude, ChatGPT, etc. The Pro and Business plans include Claude AI, so you don't need your own keys. You can still use your own keys if you prefer a different model.

OpenClaw supports WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs, LINE, WeChat, and more. New integrations are added regularly. Each platform connection is called a "channel" — the number of channels depends on your plan.

Monitoring

Every account includes free uptime monitoring. You can monitor HTTP/HTTPS endpoints, track response times, and get notified when your services go down. Install our lightweight agent on your VPS for system-level metrics (CPU, RAM, disk, network).

No. Monitoring is included free with every Kazepute account. You can create multiple monitors and set up notifications — all at no extra charge.

Security & Account

Yes. You can enable TOTP-based two-factor authentication from your account settings. We support any authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.). Backup codes are provided in case you lose access to your authenticator.

Root passwords are encrypted using libsodium (sodium_crypto_secretbox) before being stored. They're only decrypted when displayed in your portal. We recommend changing your root password after initial setup and using SSH keys instead of password authentication.

Yes. You can add SSH public keys in your account settings. When deploying a new VPS, you can select which keys to install automatically. You can also add keys to existing servers from the server management page.

Contact support to request account deletion. We'll cancel all active services, delete your data, and remove your account. Make sure to back up any data you need before requesting deletion. Active subscriptions must be cancelled first.

Migration

Yes. For web hosting, you can upload your files via the file manager or FTP and import your database. For WordPress sites, you can use a migration plugin like All-in-One WP Migration or Duplicator. If you need help, open a support ticket and we'll assist with the migration.

Yes. Deploy a new Breeze, then transfer your data and configuration from your old server. You can use rsync, scp, or any standard migration tool. If your old provider offers server snapshots or images, you can upload a custom ISO to replicate your setup.

Billing & Support

We use Stripe for payment processing and accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). All billing is monthly with no long-term contracts. You can cancel anytime.

Stripe will automatically retry failed payments. After 3 failed attempts, your services will be suspended. You'll receive email notifications at each stage. Once payment is resolved, your services are restored automatically. We don't delete your data on suspension — you have time to fix your payment method.

Open a support ticket from your portal dashboard. Our team responds to all tickets. We also have a knowledge base at kazepute.com/docs with guides and tutorials covering common tasks for both VPS and web hosting.
